MEXA Gateway

Overview

For laboratories with several test cells, MEXA GATEWAY provides the automation system with a uniform and stable view on integrated devices that are moved between test cells.

Normally, automation systems use a direct connection with a dedicated IP address to communicate with test-cell devices, for example, gas analyzers. If such a device is moved to another test cell, the automation system of the previous test cell will have communication errors due to the missing device. To avoid such errors, MEXA GATEWAY uses a device control unit (DCU) as an intermediate layer between the automation system and the integrated device.

The automation system can access the test-cell devices via a dedicated port number specified in the DCU. In performing a scan of the internal MEXA GATEWAY network (one test cell), the application is assigning the port numbers to the actually connected devices.
