MEXA-6000FT-E

Overview

MEXA-6000FT series measures concentrations of multiple components
utilizing the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) method
in combination with a multivariate analysis algorithm.
It applies to various applications, such as
evaluation of nitrogen components in catalyst development.
The new MEXA-6000FT-E meets the NH3 testing requirements
for the next EU regulation for heavy duty emission, Euro Ⅵ (draft),
and measures NH3 and other major components,
e.g. CO, CO2, and NO, simultaneously.

Euro Ⅵ (draft) compliance

  • NH3 response time (T10-T90): 5 seconds or less

  • Sampling temperature: 191℃

Tool for certification test not only for R&D

Combined with the MEXA-7000 series, which is used
for emission certifications, simultaneous measurement
of NH3 with conventional regulated and unregulated
components is realized.

About Euro Ⅵ

In 2009, the outline of next EU regulation for emission from
heavy duty engines, Euro Ⅵ, was officially announced as
EC Regulation No.595/2009. In Euro Ⅵ, emission limits of CO, NOx, and PM
have been strengthened and the NH3 limit first proposed in EuroⅤ has
been enhanced to 10 ppm.
Euro Ⅵ compliance is required for new vehicles type-approval after 2013,
and after 2014 for registrations and sales of new vehicles.

 MEXA-6000FT series

Simultaneous and continuous measurement of
up to 24 components

MEXA-6000FT series measures various unregulated components simultaneously as well as major components such as CO, CO2, NO.
HORIBA’s original algorithm of quantification provides more reliable and superior emission measurements.

  • Research of alcohol fuel (or bio-fuels)

As a countermeasure to global warming or the use of fossil fuels,
Bio-fuels research is expanding.  The MEXA-6000FT measures
emissions from methanol- or ethanol-blended fuels,
in addition to gasoline and diesel emissions.
Other exhaust components, such as unburned alcohol and formaldehyde
as an intermediate product, can also be analyzed.
(The sampling temperature recommended by the regulation is 113℃.
Please contact a HORIBA group office for detailed information.)

  • Development of after-treatment system for nitrogen compounds

In response to the requirement for NOx reduction
by diesel and lean burn gasoline engines the MEXA-6000FT series
can assist with development of after-treatment system
for nitrogen compounds. The MEXA-6000FT series can simultaneously
measure nitrogen compounds, such as NO, NO2, N2O and NH3,
which are critical compounds in catalysts development.

  • Measurement of greenhouse gas (GHG)

Main components as greenhouse gases from engines,
i.e. CO2, N2O, Methane, can be measured.

  • Measurement of THC

MEXA-6000FT series can connect to
the HORIBA MEXA-1170HFID THC analyzer directly.
MEXA-6000FT series can not only read outputs from MEXA-1170HFID,
but it can also control it.
*THC concentration from MEXA-1170HFID will be included on
the MEXA-6000FT software screen as a measured component,
and is output from an analog signal port with other available components.
(max 16 available channels)

Features

  • The MEXA-6000FT series incorporates the HORIBA proprietary,
compact interferometer, yielding superior performance and
    guaranteed high accuracy.
  • Direct sampling without dilution and dehumidification is possible
by a heated sampling system. *
  • Displays concentration value with time-trend chart.
  • No need of span gas calibration for each component.

* Standard specification: 113℃, EuroⅥ specification: 191℃
