Announcing Transfer of EMAX Series Sales and Maintenance Service Operations

Greetings, and we trust that this communication finds your company enjoying strong and prosperous business conditions. Upon this occasion, we wish to convey our most profound gratitude for your precious and continuing support of HORIBA, Ltd. and its numerous corporate activities over the years.

Today, we have taken the liberty of contacting you with regard to the EMAX Series of electronic microscope-use energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) instruments, consisting of EDS, wavelength dispersive spectroscopy (WDS), electronic backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and other types of detectors. Since the year 2000, HORIBA has coordinated the sales of these products in Japan and the Asia region under an original equipment manufacturing (OEM) agreement with Oxford Instruments Nanotechnology Tools, UK. HORIBA Techno Service Co., Ltd., a service-oriented subsidiary of HORIBA and member of the extended HORIBA Group, has been in charge of maintenance operations for the EMAX Series throughout this same period.

For your information, an agreement was recently reached between HORIBA and Oxford Instruments to terminate the aforementioned OEM arrangement as of September 30, 2018, with the sales and maintenance operations of the EMAX Series in Japan and Asia to be transferred from the control of the HORIBA Group to Oxford Instruments. In keeping with this accord, it is hereby requested that all inquiries related to orders and other matters concerning the EMAX Series be directed to Oxford Instruments from October 1, 2018.

In this regard, please also be aware that responses to and information pertaining to changes in the contacts and other details accompanying the transfer of these operations will be faithfully furnished through close collaboration between the HORIBA Group, Oxford Instruments, and Hitachi High Technologies Corporation during the transition period starting immediately on this date.

You will shortly be contacted by the Oxford Instruments Regional Manager to arrange a meeting to discuss the transition period and how we can strengthen our local support to your business. At this meeting you will be provided a Sales Pack that will include all product brochures, presentations, technical information and pricing that you need for your day to day business. In addition, we will set-up a convenient time to provide your sales and applications teams a full update on the latest products. We will also set-up a schedule to train and certify your field service engineers for installation, training and warranty for standard EDS products.

On behalf of the entire HORIBA Group, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your long years of patronage of the EMAX Series, and look forward to the continuation of excellent business relations with Oxford Instruments subsequent to the transfer of operations.

Thank you again for your kind attention to this matter, and please do not hesitate to contact us with any related questions or comments.
