HORIBA Jobin Yvon Co. has a good track record in delivering products such as spectroscopic devices and optical devices, in the fields of electronics (including semiconductors), nanotechnology, biotechnology, and medical. The company has its own sales channels, particularly in the field of electronics.

Through this merger, we HORIBA Ltd. will be able to strengthen the sales of our own products by leveraging Horiba Jobin Yvon’s sales channels. It will also be possible to utilize our sales locations (12 offices in Japan) and sales network to market Jobin Yvon S.A. products (physical and chemical equipments) in the areas of nanotechnology and biotechnology, which are expected to grow considerably in the future.

By mutually leveraging sales networks in each specialized area, we aim to further increase sales in Japan and Asia in the fields of semiconductors and spectroscopic analysis. We are hoping to increase HORIBA Jobin Yvon’s sales in two years from the current level of approximately 2.2 billion yen (fiscal 2001 actuals) to 4.0 billion yen in fiscal 2004.

In addition, we aim to consolidate the corporate group’s power to expand business in the field of spectroscopic analysis, by adopting HORIBA Jobin Yvon’s application technologies and by strengthening the collaboration with Jobin Yvon S. A in the product development area.
