Produits pour la caractérisation des particules
Greetings from your friends at HORIBA Instruments!
Our newest newsletter welcomes you to download the new application note on Particle Size and Shape Analysis of Pharmaceutical Granules, two new technical notes on using colloidal silica as a Particle Size and Charge Reference Material and Sample Loading Effects for Dynamic Light Scattering. You are also invited to attend Part II of our Laser Diffraction Boot Camp Webinar series on April 15, as well as two customer training courses April 28-29 for the CAMSIZER and LA-950.
Determination of the Particle Size and Shape of Pharmaceutical Granules Using Dynamic Image Analysis
There are many applications in the pharmaceutical industry involving simple to complex granules produced using various processes. The physical characterization of the granules can be important for understanding and controlling the manufacturing process and quantifying product quality. Many techniques exist for performing the particle size analysis of granules including sieve analysis, laser diffraction, and others. In this study dynamic image analysis is used to define the size and shape of granules created through a dry granulation process.

The Effects of Sample Loading on Dynamic Light Scattering
Modern Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) systems can measure many samples at high concentrations. Unfortunately many DLS users ignore the effect of concentration when working with unknown samples and generate less than optimal results. This technical note describes how sample loading can influence DLS results and stresses the importance of using the proper sample viscosity.

Particle Size and Charge Reference Material
Frequent system verification should be an integral component in the use of any particle characterization effort using any instrumental technique. Various particle size standards and reference materials can be used for the verification process. Ludox® silica is a well known and characterized colloidal material that has been studied using various particle size analysis techniques including acoustic spectroscopy, laser diffraction, and dynamic light scattering. The results from these studies indicate that Ludox® silica is an appropriate sample to use as a reference material.

Webinar on Light Scattering Theory
Please join us for the second entry in our Laser Diffraction Boot Camp webinar series on Wednesday, April 15. The second lecture in the series will cover various topics in laser diffraction theory including:
- Physical interaction of light and particles
- Fraunhofer and Mie theory
- Transforming scattered light into a particle size distribution
- How theory informs particle size analyzer design
Attending the Webinar is easy and free of charge. We will be glad to help you understand how to attend.
Upcoming Customer Training Courses
