Porous Zeolite Grains

Two grains of porous Zeolite have been obtained from different geographical regions.  Their distinct chemical composition is clearly shown in the XRF image, which shows Silicon, Calcium and Strontium.  The particle on the left originates from the Kuruma Pass, whilst that on the right is from Panama.

The Localised Vacuum Mode of the XGT systems allowed these grains to be analysed at atmospheric pressure, thus retaining the waters of crystallisation within the Zeolite lattice.
