New video case studies from HORIBA Medical discuss point of care haematology and clinical chemistry analysis
15 December 2010
Two new short videos discussing point of care (POC) haematology and clinical chemistry analysis are now available online as part of a new series of video case studies from HORIBA Medical. The new case studies feature Watford General Hospital Accident and Emergency department, part of West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust and Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Jo Nicholson, former Special Haematology Section Manager at Watford General Hospital, explains on camera how the Accident and Emergency (A & E) department achieved CPA compliance for its point of care haematology testing (POCT) by installing an ABX Pentra 60 C+ and Pentra SAfe solution from HORIBA Medical. With a successful installation, the A & E staff at Watford have total confidence in their new POCT solution which is centrally managed by the main haematology laboratory.
In the second of the new videos, Lynda Petley, Manager Point of Care Testing Team, Partnership Pathology Services, Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, explains how POC haematology and clinical chemistry testing has become an extension of the central laboratory’s services. The new POCT services are benefitting patients and staff alike with faster turnaround of results, shorter waiting times for patients, LEAN working practices for clinicians, fewer admissions and a reduction in central laboratory workload.
