Poster Prize for SPRi

25 July 2011

Dr Oussama Abou Chakra has been awarded a poster prize at the 30th Congress of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (June 2011) in Istanbul, Turkey.

Dr Abou Chakra presented his work on the study of the interaction between milk allergens and their antibodies by Surface Plasmon Resonance imaging (SPRi). He showed that it is possible to detect allergy-related antibodies in rabbit serum by SPRi and determined the affinities between the allergens and their antibodies.

This research was made possible owing to a financial support by Agence Nationale pour la Recherche (ANR) and the collaboration between four French teams from Allergy and Environment, ESPCI ParisTech, Paris, Laboratoire de Microfluidique, MEMs et Nanostructures, ESPCI ParisTech, Paris, Laboratoire de Réactivité de Surface, Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Ivry-sur-Seine and HORIBA Scientific-Genoptics, Chilly-Mazarin.

Interactions between immobilized transferrin and anti-transferrin antibodies injected at different concentrations. The bold orange curves correspond to the fitting curves for each concentration.

The avidity constant calculated by ScrubberGen, for the interaction transferrin /anti-transferrin was 1.6nM.
