Amateur Astronomy Filters

Amateur Astronomy Filters is new in our line of Astronomy Filters. The production of both NPB and HPOIII filters is completed in Omega Optical’s new dual magnetron reactive sputtering system, the state of the art vacuum coater Helios, manufactured by Leybold Optics. The new coater has greatly increased yields of all Omega Optical products.

Besides the big increase in capacity the ultra precision, ultra hard films produced by the Helios system are optically near perfect versus theoretical performance. The first production runs have produced filters with very flat pass bands and transmission over 96%. The filters are also being applied to ultra high quality quartz substrates featuring surface accuracy of better than ¼ wave peak to valley total.

Products

GCE – DGM Optics™ Galaxy Contrast Enhancement Filter
The Galaxy Contrast Enhancement filter aids in the visual observation of galaxies and Milky Way dust clouds and dark lanes.

NPB – DGM Optics™ Narrow Pass Band Nebula Filter
An Ultra High Contrast type of filter that is very effective for small and fainter emission planetary and nebula and a variety of bright nebula, especially through larger scopes.

VHT – DGM Optics™ Very High Throughput Nebula Filter
An excellent Nebula filter for smaller scopes (4-6 inches aperture) where light gathering and throughput are at a premium. It is also quite effective with larger scopes.

HPOIII – DGM Optics™ High Performance OIII
The DGM Optics HPOIII makes an excellent complimentary filter to the NPB filter. The HPOIII’s high transmission and narrow bandwidth allows maximum enhancement and detail for a large variety of both emission and reflective nebula.
