Our North American Automotive Test Systems group is searching for an experienced Test Technician responsible for preparing test fixtures/instrumentation/equipment for a wide variety of testing applications (primarily automotive), running and monitoring the test applications as well as documenting and reviewing test application results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in determining the appropriate fixture/instrumentation/equipment for the test application.
  • Assists in verifying/validating that the appropriate equipment defined in the original proposal is appropriate for the test application through the use of basic engineering calculations.
  • Designs/drafts details and/or general layouts of test equipment and support fixturing in accordance to the test application.
  • Assists in preparing and maintaining all documentation (i.e. test data log sheets) as necessary for the test application.
  • Supports calibration activity of all applicable instrumentation and ensures only calibrated instrumentation/equipment is used.
  • Responsible for the mechanical and electronic setup of the test application in accordance to the quoted methodology and budget and any processes and procedures.
  • Runs and monitors test systems in accordance to standard laboratory procedures and/or customer provided procedures.
  • Documents and evaluates test application results in accordance to standard laboratory procedures and/or customer provided procedures.
  • Dispositions CSP (Customer Supplied Property) in accordance with the customer’s requirements and supports material control in the preparation of CSP back to customer.
  • Assists in providing timely and accurate updates of the status of the test application in accordance with customer directives and laboratory policies/procedures

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of general testing practices (i.e. SAE or ASTM), procedures, policies, and documentation.
  • Experience working with technical data in a test laboratory or engineering environment as typically gained through a two year college or trade school education or equivalent experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of closed loop servo-control, motor control, hydraulics, pneumatics, data acquisition, basic electronics and automotive mechanics.
  • Excellent customer service, initiative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
