Carbaryl

Overview

Carbaryl is a carbamate insecticide.  It is used for multiple farm products because of its long-lasting effect.  This kit allows an easy, rapid (within 2 hours), sensitive, quantitative, multi-sample analysis of carbaryl that remains in farm products.  This kit is best applied for inspection at delivery time/prior to processing or primary screening in production sites.

Features

          Comparison with instrumental analysis

While instrumental analysis offers high accuracy, it requires complicated and time-consuming pretretreatment techniques, and sophisticated instrument operation as well as large quantities of acetone, methanol, hexane or acetic ether as organic solvents.  The simpler pretreatment required for kit saves significant time.  Additionally, only a small quantity of methanol is required as an extraction solvent for analyzing carbaryl.

          Application examples

The figures show the comparison between standard curves with 10% methanol and reaction curves drawn with methanol extract of carbaryl –added farm products (diluted to 10% methanol equivalent).  The overlapping curves; demonstrate the suitability of this kit for analyzing trace carbaryl without any interference from the original produce.
