H-Fenitrothion

Overview

Fenitrothion is an organic phosphorous insecticide.  It is used for multiple farm products.  This kit allows an easy, rapid (within 2 hours), sensitive, quantitative, multi-sample analysis of fenitrothion that remains in farm products.  This kit is best applied for inspection af delivery time /prior to processing or primary screening in production sites.

Features

Comparison with instrumental analysis

While instrumental analysis offers high accuracy, it requires complicated and time-consuming pretreatment techniques, and sophisticated instrument operation as well as  large quantities of hexane or acetone as organic solvents.  The simpler pretreatment required for kit saves significant time.  Additionally, only a small quantity of methanol is required as an extraction solvent for analyzing fenitrothion.

 Application examples

The figures show the comparison between standard curves with 10% methanol and reaction curves drawn with methanol extract of fenitrothion-added farm products (diluted to 10% methanol equivalent).  The overlapping curves; demonstrate the suitability of this kit for analyzing trace fenitrothion without any interference from the original produce.
