HORIBA eHUB, located in Barleben, Germany, is a new facility to strengthen the production capabilities of HORIBA FuelCon GmbH, which has been in operation since this fiscal year. It develops, manufactures, and sells evaluation equipment for fuel cells, batteries, and electrolyzers (water electrolysis). Its opening ceremony, which had been postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis, was held on September 12th in grand.
The ceremony was attended by many guests, including Jürgen Ude, State Secretary at State chancellery and Ministry of Culture, Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt, Prof. Jens Strackeljan, President of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, and Frank Nase, Mayor of Barleben. In addition, Reiner Haseloff, Prime Minister of the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, gave us a congratulatory message in a video message.
This facility is expected to contribute to future business growth as a global hub base for the HORIBA Group's new energy business, including hydrogen, and the development of electric vehicles. In particular, we have secured a vast production area in anticipation of the growing global demand for hydrogen production.
Atsushi Horiba, Chairman and Group CEO, said “Toward the realization of a carbon-neutral society, countries around the world are working to expand the use of renewable energy. We very appreciate that we have received many inquiries for battery evaluation equipment, water electrolysis tanks, and fuel cell evaluation equipment. Given the international situation, hydrogen is essential from the perspective of economic security also. The HORIBA Group will contribute to a hydrogen and de-carbonized society with offering appropriate analytical solutions from HORIBA eHUB, a center of excellence of fuel cells, batteries and electrolyzers.”
Ingo Benecke, President of HORIBA FuelCon GmbH, said “The HORIBA eHUB was realized in an amazing timing span of only 24 months from conception to opening. Therefore, we are proud that not only Tesla can quickly build a new factory in Brandenburg but we can do the same in Saxony-Anhalt. Looking at the current market situation, the HORIBA eHUB is perfect to set the standard, and we are ready to keep pace with increasing demands for higher electrical density. The state-of-the-art technical infrastructure and the increasing manpower will also help HORIBA to respond to future market requirements in large scale.”
By combining HORIBA FuelCon's fuel cell, battery, and electrolyzer evaluation technologies with the HORIBA Group's various technologies to broaden the range of applications, HORIBA eHUB will become a diverse global hub for the new energy business, responding to various market needs. Under the slogan "From HORIBA eHUB to the world," it continues to provide optimal solutions that contribute to the realization of carbon neutrality.
