HORIBA Presents New Generation of Motor Exhaust Gas Analyzers

MEXA-ONE sets benchmarks in reliability and precision

Oberursel (Taunus), June 12, 2012 – With the MEXA-ONE, HORIBA, market leader in emissions testing, introduces the latest version of its motor exhaust gas analyzers at the Automotive Testing Expo in Stuttgart, Germany, from June 12 to 14, 2012. Compared to conventional systems, MEXA-ONE achieves a 50 per cent reduction in analyzer response times and a 30 per cent reduction in calibration waiting times. The analyzer thus provides for a higher testing efficiency and an accelerated motor and vehicle development. The compact exhaust gas measuring system is for example used to evaluate catalyst systems in NOX after-treatment and supports carmakers in meeting future legal emissions standards. Another user benefit is the newly developed operating platform which can integrate a variety of other systems and measuring devices in addition to the MEXA-ONE.

“Our new analyzer generation MEXA-ONE contains the knowledge amassed from about 50 years of experience in emissions testing,” says Atsushi Horiba, Chairman, President & CEO of HORIBA Ltd. “Thanks to the new system layout, the MEXA-ONE is more close coupled than its predecessors and has a reduced footprint to increase laboratory layout efficiency.”

The MEXA-ONE has an intuitive user interface. The special front access design allows easy maintenance and the improved maintenance support guarantees continuous and stable system operation. Another user benefit is the innovative software platform which allows the sharing and management of data, statistical data analysis and report preparation in conjunction with customer systems around the world.
Apart from the MEXA-ONE, HORIBA also presents its quantum cascade laser technology analyzers at booth 1512 in Hall 1 of the Automotive Testing Expo in Stuttgart, Germany. With the MEXA-1400QL-NX, real-time simultaneous measurement of four nitrogen components in motor exhaust gas (NO, NO2, NH3, N2O) is possible. Also displayed at the show is the Fuel Flow Meter FQ-2100DP, which provides accurate fuel flow measurement for all engine sizes and various fuel types.

Headquartered in Kyoto, Japan, the HORIBA Group of worldwide companies provides an extensive array of instruments and systems for applications ranging from automotive R&D, process and environmental monitoring, in-vitro medical diagnostics, semiconductor manufacturing and metrology, to a broad range of scientific R&D and quality control measurements.
