Vacuum UV - Padmore Monochromator
A Padmore monochromator is a variable deviation angle monochromator with a plane mirror and a spherical grating. The grating grazing incidence angle is adjusted by the plane mirror at each energy allowing a best harmonics rejection and grating efficiency. This permits also to cover very large energy range with less grating than in a constant deviation monochromator but with a more complex scanning mechanics.
The main characteristics of this kind of monochromator are:
- High resolution and flux.
- Variable deviation angle for best harmonics rejection.
- Large spectral range.
- Fixed entrance and exit slit.
