  • Size : 40 - 100 µm
  • Normal values : 5 - 10 per smear
  • Description / Pathology :

    Very large size cells visible at low magnification with MGG on bone marrow smears.

    Shape: variable, maily globular

    Nucleus: polilobed, varuiable shape

    Chromatine: dense

    Nucleolus: absent

    Cytoplasm: abundant, acidophil, numerous granulations, platelet release in blood vessels

    Thrombocytogenous megakaryocytes can be observed  with nucleus becoming dense.
