Our North American Semiconductor group is searching for an experienced Product Quality & Reliability Engineer at our new R&D Technology Center in Reno, Nevada, minutes from the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. Discover more about this area by visiting

The Product Quality & Reliability Engineer will work closely with the engineering team in support of reliability, R&D, product development, and production. This position completes the reliability analysis for new products and plans the reliability validation tests for products throughout the development and launch phases. Position will also be responsible for implementing and driving ISO 9001 in an R&D environment.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish, implement, and maintain engineering change order and engineering service request policies, procedures, tools, and document archival systems in accordance with ISO 9001;
  • Evaluates, from a reliability standpoint, the materials, properties, and techniques used in design and manufacturing by HORIBA and HORIBA’s suppliers.
  • Reviews Engineering Change Requests for their impact on Quality and Reliability (Q&R).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain engineering practices to ensure new products meet customer requirements as well as applicable standards and regulations;
  • Conduct statistical analysis (various regression, Weibull, measurement uncertainty analysis, etc.);
  • Perform failure/root cause analysis using tools such as FMEA, 8D, fault-tree analysis;
  • Perform risk and impact analysis, feasibility evaluations or equivalency studies, and traceability analysis.
  • Verify and validate effectiveness of changes;
  • Create artifacts required per applicable procedures;
  • Track issues found according to company's defect/change tracking process.


  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines or extensive relevant experience.  
  • Minimum 5 years Semiconductor industry relevant product experience.   
  • Experience working in an ISO9001 R&D environment preferred.
