Functional Safety Consultant

With electronics and software complexity in vehicles growing exponentially and the growth of higher levels of ADAS and automated driving, managing the risks with malfunction or operational limitations of these systems is becoming more and more challenging. Globally, we have a team of 30+ functional safety experts, many of whom have been involved in writing standards and guidelines for functional safety, safety of the intended functionality and cyber security. This means HORIBA functional safety offers an unrivalled quality of expertise to our clients. HORIBA is currently seeking a Functional Safety Consultant to work out of our Sunnyvale, CA office.  

The qualified candidate will be responsible for interfacing with customers directly to provide functional safety expertise into development of the latest technology E/E systems for vehicle applications. The qualified candidate will take the technical responsibility for delivery of technically challenging activities such as complete safety requirements decks, and working closely with the vehicle domain/technical teams and coordinating with supplier’s functional safety teams located globally.  

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in electrical/electronic engineering, systems engineering or related degree or equivalent experience. Master’s degree in Engineering or Professional Engineering license is preferred   

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering or related degree or equivalent experience. Master’s degree in engineering or Professional Engineering license is preferred  
  • Five (5) plus years’ experience in delivering ISO 26262 to vehicle manufacturers and tier 1 suppliers covering all aspects of the safety lifecycle  
  • Experience in functional safety planning & management environment  
  • Must know embedded hardware & software design and technical review for safety-related systems  
  • Have a high technical capability and experience in developing safety related embedded systems (hardware, embedded software or both) for real-time control  
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills  
  • Be willing to travel domestically and globally
