Product Specialist – Custom Spectroscopy Systems

HORIBA Instruments is looking for a Applications Scientist for their Piscataway, New Jersey location. 


The successful candidate will work with Product Engineer in the design, assembly and testing of custom optical spectroscopy systems. Systems include light sources, spectrometers, CCD and other single channel detectors and microscopes. Travel to customer sites to perform system installation and training of customers on use of hardware and software as well as servicing installed systems. Perform sample runs on various custom systems to demonstrate system capability as part of development evaluation and in support of system sales. Generate, test and document operating procedures for various custom systems.



  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in physical or biological sciences
  • Experience with optical spectroscopies such as Raman and Photoluminescence is a plus
  • Experience with optical microscopes is a plus
  • Experience with instrument control software such as LabView is a plus
  • Familiarity with general electronics is a plus
  • Familiarity with instrumentation in a production environment also is a plus
  • Familiarity with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (or other programming)
