Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Presently, our HORIBA Scientific OEM Division is searching for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer for our North American operation located in Piscataway, New Jersey.

Qualifications: 

Minimum of a BSEE or BSCE degree with 5 to 7 years of directly related experience associated with designing CCD / CMOS cameras, instrumentation products, analytical instruments and/or related embedded control systems.

Responsibilities: 

  • Work collaboratively on a team of FPGA, Hardware, PCB and Embedded software engineers to develop our next generation CCD and CMOS camera platforms. 
  • Design, simulate and implement synthesizable RTL for high performance FPGAs (via VHDL / Verilog).
  • Create original designs, as well as, modify and improve existing FPGA designs.
  • Analyze resource requirements and recommend appropriate solutions including block diagrams and chip selection.
  • Develop constraints and analyze timing to achieve timing closure.
  • Understand and implement coding practices that support in-system debug (ILAs), testing and block modularity.
  • Debug / validate design using test bench scripting and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic & bus analyzers, device programmers).
  • Meet all design requirements including performance, cost and field upgrade functionality.
  • Participate in design review meetings 
  • Provide technical documentation

 

 

Requirements: 

  • Proficiency with ISE and Vivado Xilinx Tool Suites.
  • VHDL and/or Verilog design, simulation and synthesis
  • Experience using one or more of the following Xilinx devices: Spartan-6 FPGAs, 7 Series FPGAs, Zynq / UltraScale SOCs.
  • Prior SOC experience with AXI Bus interfaces, DMA engines and DDR memory and peripheral subsystems
  • Debug experience using oscilloscopes, signal generators, protocol analyzers and FPGA debug tools (ILA)
  • Experience with industry-standard protocols (USB2/3, Gig-E, LVDS, SPI/QSPI, I2C)

 

 

Preferred: 

  • Previous experience leading / managing a small design team.
  • Knowledge of CCD and CMOS imager architectures.
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics for schematic capture and PCB layout/routing.
  • Knowledge of high-speed design both from a logic and signal integrity standpoint.
  • Understanding of signal/data acquisition systems (ADC, memory transfer).
