The 43-year-old takes over the position from his predecessor Hiroshi Kawamura, who remains within the HORIBA Group. Hiroshi Kawamura will instead resume the position as Chairman of HORIBA MIRA Ltd., President of HORIBA UK as well as President of the HORIBA European Holding.
Hiroshi Nakamura joined the Research and Development (R&D) department of HORIBA Ltd. in 1998 with a degree in materials science and engineering. After earning a doctoral degree and holding several different positions within the HORIBA Group worldwide, he became Global Segment Leader for Automotive Test Systems in 2011 as well as Chief Manager of HORIBA’s Automotive Segment Strategy Office in 2013.
During his career at HORIBA, he was involved in the development of two very important products: the first generation of an on-board emission measurement system (the so called OBS-1000), and the MEXA-ONE, the latest-generation motor exhaust gas analyzer. Nakamura has published more than 30 technical papers and holds patents for at least 15 applications.

Nakamura will be based at the headquarters of HORIBA Europe GmbH in Oberursel near Frankfurt and will report directly to Atsushi Horiba, Chairman, CEO and President of HORIBA Ltd.
