HORIBA and HORIBA MIRA prepared for new emissions legislation

At this year’s Automotive Testing Expo Europe (June 20 - 22 2017), engine exhaust analyzer experts, HORIBA and pioneering engineering provider HORIBA MIRA will introduce their latest products and services for the automotive testing industry.

During their joint presence at Automotive Testing Expo Europe 2017 in Stuttgart, HORIBA will present its extensive portfolio of innovative Automotive Test Systems solutions. HORIBA MIRA will concentrate on showcasing its Advanced Emissions Test Centre (AETC) - which provides emissions testing capabilities for global compliance, including Euro 6d and Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP), as well as incorporating Real World Driving Emissions (RDE) testing capabilities. In addition, HORIBA MIRA will demonstrate its batteries and battery management system at HORIBA’s booth in Hall 1, fair stand 1512.

HORIBA MIRA joined the HORIBA Group in July 2015, and since then both companies have benefitted from the collaboration, growing their capabilities within the area of future mobility - such as connected and autonomous vehicles - and emissions, to name a few. With the presented turnkey solutions showcased at Automotive Testing Expo 2017, both companies pursue the overarching goal of supporting their customers while coping with increasingly strict emissions test legislations. The upcoming Euro 6d emissions regulation, which will implement Real Driving Emissions (RDE), is a new feature to the EU legislative landscape and will become effective from 2017, adding the road as a new mandatory environment for emission testing and certification. The new regulation requires new emissions testing technologies which are capable of testing emissions under real-road conditions; something HORIBA and HORIBA MIRA can collectively offer a full-service solution from HORIBA MIRA’s headquarters in the UK.

Since becoming part of HORIBA Group in 2015, investments to date have enabled HORIBA MIRA to undertake significant upgrades to a number of its existing facilities, as well construct new ones - such as the AETC. Richard Adams, HORIBA MIRA Commercial Manager, said: “Being part of the HORIBA Group has enabled us to reaffirm our position at the cutting edge of automotive technology and builds on our reputation as a world-leader in automotive testing and engineering. With support from HORIBA, we’ve been able to develop our AETC, helping to contribute to reducing emissions globally and supporting our client-based to ensure they meet the new EU regulations.”

Dr. Hiroshi Nakamura, President of HORIBA Europe GmbH, stresses: “We are happy to see that our investment in HORIBA MIRA has been so successful. Together, we build on a unique reputation in terms of R&D, engineering and automotive test systems with a significant portfolio of engineering capabilities. We are looking forward to implementing even more exciting projects, developing more products and services, and supporting our customers worldwide.”
