I used a paid holiday because I needed to concentrate on my study the day before a national qualification exam. I also used hourly paid time off since the exam study group was in Osaka and it took a long time for me to travel there. The paid time off policies were very efficient and helpful because I could take time off flexibly so long as I could adjust my work.

My parent needs nursing care, and my relatives and I work together to provide the necessary care. Nursing care requires not only actual care but also negotiations and paperwork with hospitals, government offices, and care managers. Since nursing care is not a temporary situation and I must do my share without stressing myself too much, I benefit from the hourly paid time off system.

My wife and I both work in the Development Division. Since I wanted to support my wife's desire to continue her development job, I consulted with my boss and coworkers. As a result, I took paternity leave for eight weeks for our first child and four weeks for our second. I believe I could use the system because the company has an atmosphere of mutual support and we desire to operate as a team.

I left the company to accompany my husband when he was transferred overseas. While I was away, I heard that across the company, HORIBA was deepening its understanding of working mothers and their need to use relevant support programs. I began to think about working again once my son turned a year old. I chose HORIBA because I could maintain a good work-life balance and I already knew many people there.
