HORIBA Medical (previously known as ABX Diagnostics) was founded in 1983 and incorporated in 1996. Our focus is in the hematology, hemostasis and clinical chemistry markets with instrumentation designed for rapid, economical and easy analysis in the Physicians Office laboratory and small to medium-size hospitals. Through listening to our clients and a constant "One Company" innovation - the cornerstones of our corporate culture - we have become an active player in all sectors of our market and have been identified as one of the fastest growing IVD companies in the industry.

Globally, our instrumentation has captured a significant portion of the world market with strength in France, Japan, U.K. and America. Distribution is handled through both a direct sales force and all of the major national and regional distributors. Today, present in near 150 countries on all five continents, with internationally recognized instruments and a leader’s ranking in most markets, HORIBA Medical is a world leader on the Hematology market. The strength of its distribution network coupled with its experience allows HORIBA Medical to operate efficiently in international markets.

HORIBA Medical has over 1,500 employees across its sites and subsidiaries. It produces 7,000 instruments a year and it is now close to 10,000 tons of reagents produced annually. Our direct team of in-house Technical Service Representatives along with nationwide coverage of Field Service Representatives offers un-paralleled remote and on-site service. With the added value of a direct team of Systems Installation Specialists, these med-tech's are a key component to a successful installation and on-going support. HORIBA Medical also benefits from technologies patented by the HORIBA Group and the synergies between all its research centers throughout the world. Since it was incorporated into the HORIBA Group in 1996, the Medical segment sales have continued to grow exponentially to reach 231 MUSD in 2019.

Technological creativity

HORIBA Medical has risen to the challenge by considerably intensifying its research efforts. The company aims to invest over 10% of its sales in R&D in the medium term.

Many new concepts, that are unique, have been introduced in the field of in vitro diagnostics, including the most compact system on the market (Micros designed by HORIBA Medical).

Over 40 “key” patent families have been lodged worldwide, covering all the technologies included in our testing systems.
