The HORIBA Group is promoting occupational safety and health in many different ways in line with the policies and annual plans established in accordance with the HORIBA Group Safety Declaration. Every year, Group companies in Japan set the “HORIBA Safety Enhancement Period” to coincide with National Safety Week from July 1 to 7. In 2021, we implemented the top management patrol for partner companies and awarded for risk assessment promotion activities. These activities led to establish a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. In November, we observe Disaster Prevention Week during the week of Japan's Disaster Prevention Day on November 9 and conducted checkups and training on the theme of disaster prevention at all of our workplaces, as well as comprehensive disaster drills.
We implementvarious occupational safety trainings based on laws and regulations and our Occupational Safety Management Policy. These trainings on health and safety are offered as a part of the programs at a internal educational function (college) “HORIBA College.”
For the training of managers, we offer an interactive training course that focuses on group discussions on case studies of work-related accidents and near-miss eventss within the Group, rather than one-sided lectures. Also, In the safe driving class, we use the video of the drive recorder installed in all company-owned vehicles and oblige everyone who drives a car, motorcycle, or bicycle for either work and commuting to take the class once a year.
We established a fire defense organization for self-protection and conduct regular training. To prepare for emergencies, we also organize fire/disaster drills and AED (automated external defibrillator) basic life-saving training. In order to ensure the safety of employees and prepare for business continuity even in the event of a disaster such as an earthquake, we implement comprehensive disaster prevention drills and review the contents, quantity, storage method, etc. of disaster prevention stockpiles in all bases.
We make doubly sure to enforce safe driving by installing company cars with a driving control system. We also provide commendations for safe driving to excellent drivers, individual education for employees who are likely to cause accidents, and health management support such as a simple test for sleep apnea syndrome (SAS) to raise awareness of safe driving.
