Pharma particles range from suspension droplets in a liquid formulation to dry particles used in solid dosage forms. The effectiveness of a formulation depends on both the size distribution and chemical composition of these particles. Here, we present two complementary analysis methods. Raman microspectroscopy is an excellent probe of particle composition and particle size. Laser diffraction is a workhorse technique for particle size determination and offers precision and speed.

Join us as Dr. Jeff Bodycomb and Dr. Eunah Lee discuss using both of these techniques for analyzing pharmaceutical powders and emulsions and comment on how they fit together.

Dynamic light scattering (DLS) is a common technique to determine size and zeta potential of colloidal particles in a suspension. It is used to determine relevant properties of the catalyst inks used to fabricate electrodes of electrochemical energy conversion devices, such as fuel cells and electrolysers. These properties include surface charge of catalyst and catalyst supports, ink stability, catalyst-ionomer interaction etc. In this webinar, Prof. Iryna Zenyuk and Prantik Saha will discuss how DLS helps prepare catalyst inks with high electrochemical performance required for optimal design of these systems, and thus, help build a zero-carbon emissions society.
