Platelet satellitism

Platelet satellitism is the rimming of PMNs by platelets in peripheral blood. It can be observed in presence of EDTA and may cause spurious thrombocytopenia in automated platelet counters. The etiology can be cryoglobulinemia, hypergammaglobulinemia and immunecomplexes.
