  • Description / Pathology :

Small to medium oval cell with well-defined outline, round eccentric nucleus, highly condensed chromatin with tortoiseshell appearance. Intensely basophilic cytoplasm with Golgi apparatus adjacent to the nucleus

Multiple myeloma (> 10% bone marrow plasma cells associated with a monoclonal peak and suggestive clinical signs such as anemia, renal failure, hypercalcemia, bone lesions). Very rare plasma cell leukemia. MGUS (<10% in the bone marrow) without clinical signs.

In low numbers in the mononucleosis (<2%) associated with many hyperbasophilic lymphocytes.
