Quality Assurance Technician

HORIBA Instruments Inc., a leading manufacturer of scientific instruments, has an immediate opening for a Quality Control Analyst in its Gratings Division at its Piscataway, New Jersey location.

The ideal candidate shall be able to follow the inspection technique laid out by the quality manager or manufacturing engineer, perform in-process and final inspections, and determine whether the final product passes or fails. The candidate shall record the data correctly for compliance purposes and be able to recognize adverse trends while inspecting. 

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform visual inspection to assure product quality
  • Inspect the grating products using fixtures and the AI tool
  • Monitor and record the environmental conditions in manufacturing labs and completion of respective forms
  • Collect, record and analyze the grating traveler data for metrics and possible adverse trends
  • Collect non-conforming material from the Gratings lab and create a notification in SAP
  • Follow established quality procedures and create procedures where needed
  • Assists the quality engineer with handling of grating customer returns
  • Assist in customer and ISO audits
  • Perform a variety of quality assurance tasks in support of engineering and operations

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Education - High school or relevant education in a related field
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize when several tasks are given
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time in a manufacturing setting, to perform visual inspections of products (appearance, defects, etc.)
  • Ability to multitask in a busy environment

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Basic computer literacy, Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good communication skills
