**ENTRY LEVEL POSITION FOR FUTURE FIELD SERVICE SPECIALIST**

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The intention of this position is to ensure effective and efficient sales communication, and lead generation and to support all areas of domestic sales growth.  The domestic sales engineer level 1 will support and interface with the field sales team and ensure proper communication and sales processes.   Working from the home office (Piscataway, NJ) the Sales Engineer will assist the management and field sales teams in every aspect of the relationship between HORIBA Scientific and our customers.  The individual will learn our products, markets, the scientific industry, and the sales process and skills required to develop and close orders. Identifying the specific needs of customers and how HORIBA Scientifics’ products address those needs. There is an opportunity for employees through this position to learn the HORIBA Scientific products and sales processes and to eventually take on a sales territory of their own. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Acts as pre-sales liaison between field sales and sales administration, applications, manufacturing, service, and all other departments.
  2. Technical configuration of sales orders so they can be entered into SAP Technical order review and material configuration.  Attend technical order review meetings
  3. Day-to-day technical support of the domestic sales administration team.
  4. Ensure lower-cost product sales are maintained.
  5. Telephone follow-up for field sales on leads that have gone cold.
  6. Mining the  Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database for past prospects that dropped out of the sales pipeline
  7. CRM maintenance via the marketing manager. Database (CRM) management.
  8. Identify potential new accounts online, grant researching, and government funding.
  9. Responsible for inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls and emails 
  10. Support field sales when quoting non-standard products.  Liaison between sales and applications scientists/engineers to make sure all the necessary components are quoted.
  11. Assists with lead analysis, account management, sales strategy, sales forecasts, and business reporting.
  12. Responsible for Customer satisfaction through regular contact/updates and promoting the HORIBA brand by insuring HORIBA products are used regularly and effectively.
  13. Provides feedback to sales, applications, marketing, manufacturing, and management concerning customer satisfaction and opinion on our products and services
  14. Performs other duties as required by management.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

Interfaces with management, field sales, prospects, customers, production, customer service and sales administration team.

 

DECISION-MAKING AND PROBLEM-SOLVING:

  • Consults applications scientists and R&D to properly configure orders
  • In consultation with the sales staff and other departments, makes decisions with regard to providing proper information on customer requirements, opinion, satisfaction, and reporting. 
  • Prioritizes responses to customer and manufacturing representative inquiries.
  • Assesses incoming orders for accuracy and required documentation and contacts customers and sales staff to acquire the necessary information to complete the transaction.

 

Education and/or experience

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, scientific discipline preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training in a similar position.
