Mechanical Engineer

HORIBA UK are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the R & D department. You will be joining at an exciting time with HORIBA UK with various innovations being created!

The key areas of responsibilities for this role

  • Undertake the detailed design of products and produce associated build documentation, mainly for the automotive industry.
  • Accurately capture mechanical design requirements as part of defined design processes
  • Prepare, cost and schedule estimates giving appropriate consideration to technical risks and making any appropriate recommendations.
  • Support the Design team in creating cost effective design solutions for specific customer requests promptly and accurately.
  • Responsible for creating 2D and / or 3D Models of components as required.
  • Preparation of build documentation including: Mechanical assembly instructions, Electrical assembly instructions,· Pneumatic circuit diagrams, Bills of Materials, User manuals and Installation, operation and service documentation
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure requirements are communicated effectively to ensure appropriate selection of materials and services.
  • To closely manage sub contract manufacturing partners ensuring products/items are manufactured according to HUK and customer needs and meet drawing requirements.
  • To report progress of engineering tasks to managers and other engineers as required.
  • To work in accordance with ISO 9001 and other relevant standards to support the approval & qualification of new products.

 

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Either a Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject.
  • Experience of hardware design including test instrumentation, ideally for the Automotive industry.
  • Extensive Experience of AutoCAD, preferably AutoCAD 2019 LT software.
  • Experience of Pro/E (Creo 4) and Whindchill 11.1
  • Experience of product packaging design including sheet metalwork.
  • Awareness of different machining processes.
  • Experience of managing sub-contract manufacturing effectively.
