Spectroscopy offers valuable insights into cell health, growth, and product production. Bioluminescence assays measure ATP levels, providing a direct measure of cell viability and energy production. Flow cytometry and automated cell counters use light scattering to count cells and measure their size, providing information on cell growth and proliferation. HORIBA is currently using the ATEEM™ Fluorescence technology via the Aqualog, to monitor cell culture quality and to ensure that some of the components that are less sensitive to traditional in-line techniques are present in sufficient concentration for optimal cell growth.
