Beginning: 12/06/22

Location: Online

In this webinar you will learn how the new Circular Economy Action Plan will influence the design of the future packaging and its waste management and you will gain insights how Raman Spectroscopy/Microscopy can be the perfect tool to address these new challenges. Indeed the packaging materials used in the Food and/or Pharmaceutical industries are made by complex structures of multilayer polymer films; these films very often have a typical thickness below 100 microns with layers, such as the adhesive and laquer ones, of thickness in the micron/sub-micron range. Such structure can be “resolved” by Raman microscopy allowing their analysis by identifying the chemical nature and thicknesses of each layer in cross-section and/or confocal depth profiling modes.

In the second part of the webinar you will see through a live demo how the hardware and software solution developed by HORIBA made by the polymer vice, to prepare the cross section and hold it in place under the microscope objective, and the Layers app, the new LabSpec6 software tool, can simplify and automatize the analysis of packaging materials.
