Jacques Badoz, of the Paris School of Physics and Chemistry, worked with Jobin Yvon to develop the dichrograph, an instrument based on the measurement of the change in the polarization state of light induced by the passage of a chemical substance (circular dichroism). Similar to ellipsometry, this technique is used in the pharmaceutical industry to deduce the structure of components used, such as peptides and other proteins.
