Ensuring Confidence and Precision Across the Nuclear Lifecycle

HORIBA supports the nuclear energy sector throughout a plant’s entire lifecycle, from excavation to decommissioning. Its metrology and characterization solutions monitor pollution, air quality, and construction materials, verify wear and circuit components, ensure QC, and assist in waste management, including soil and indoor-air assessment across land, air, and raw materials.

High-Sensitivity Carbon, Sulfur, Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Hydrogen Measurement

The EMIA Series provides precise measurement of carbon and sulfur content in solid samples, crucial for quality control in steel production, metal refining, and ceramics. These analyzers are known for their high sensitivity, accuracy, and user-friendly operation.

HORIBA’s EMGA Series is designed to measure oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen in metals and inorganic materials. These instruments are widely used in metallurgy, powder metallurgy, and advanced materials industries to ensure material integrity and compliance with standards.

Experts Weigh In

Bertrand Allo

Environmental Radiation Protection Engineer at EDF, France, user of two EMIA systems in restricted and conventional areas

Within EDF's Technical Department, based in Chinon, France, we have two EMIA920V2 carbon/sulfur elemental analyzers, one in a conventional area and the other in a restricted area. These analyzers are used specifically to verify the chemical grades of steels and nickel alloys as part of expert assessments following equipment failures, as well as to monitor the aging and effects of irradiation of certain equipment used in EDF's nuclear power plants. These analyzers are also used to verify the chemical composition of steels and nickel alloys in the manufacture of equipment for future nuclear power plants.

The carbon/sulfur analyzers we have are robust and deliver highly accurate measurements. From a maintenance perspective, our feedback is also positive. Our HORIBA representatives are responsive and provide us with expert advice whenever we request it.
