HORIBA KOREA consolidates its production, sales, and service bases

|   Press Release

HORIBA, Ltd. (Head Office: Kyoto, Japan; hereinafter, HORIBA) announced today that its subsidiary HORIBA KOREA Ltd. has established its new head office and factory in Anyang, Gyeonggi, South Korea and moved from its former site.

HORIBA KOREA conducts sales and service for automotive, environmental, scientific, and medical products, as well as production of automotive engine-emission gas analyzers, air pollution analyzers, and compact water quality analyzers. With the completion of the new site, its head office and factory in Bucheon, sales office in Seoul Special City, and service center in Suwon have been consolidated in Anyang. Now that the three function-specific sites have been integrated into one, HORIBA KOREA aims to expand its business by leveraging its collective strengths ranging from production to sales and service. With the total floor area being doubled to 7,613 m2, the production area of the new site has been expanded by 1.6 times, making it possible to manufacture large systems products, which was difficult at the former site.

Background of the Relocation

This year, HORIBA KOREA celebrates the 30th anniversary of its foundation after the opening of its head office and factory in Bucheon in 1988. In order to better meet the environmental regulations in South Korea and diverse demands of auto manufacturers, this Korean subsidiary has consolidated its three function-specific sites and relocated to the industrial zone in Anyang, Gyeonggi. In the 12 meter-tall production area, it is now possible to produce large-scale products. Also established at the new site is an analysis center where contract analysis and demonstrations for customers in the scientific and medical fields will be conducted. HORIBA KOREA is on its way to becoming a one-stop supplier, engaged in end-to-end processes ranging from production to provision of solutions in response to diverse customer needs.

The new site will also host a Korean branch of HORIBA MIRA Limited (Head Office: Nuneaton, U.K.), a provider of vehicle testing and development services. Furthermore, better access to HORIBA STEC KOREA Ltd., which is engaged in the semiconductor business in the South Korean market, better satisfies the needs of auto manufacturers, whose market is undergoing drastic changes, such as the rise of autonomous driving and electric vehicles.

Summary of remarks by Chairman & Group CEO Atsushi Horiba

The HORIBA Group is proactively making investments globally, and HORIBA KOREA is one of the most important strategic sites for the Group. More than 40 years have passed since HORIBA set foot in South Korea, and HORIBA KOREA marks the 30th anniversary of its foundation this year. I have had experience working in South Korea from when I was younger, and I learned the ABCs of business there. As we witness the debut of electric vehicles as well as major changes in the IT and other industrial sectors, a number of new ventures are being launched in these fields in South Korea. Now that the three sites of HORIBA KOREA have been joined by HORIBA MIRA, a vehicle testing and development services provider, we are hoping to enhance our engineering prowess in this country so that we can offer the best quality and the latest solutions to our globally-active customers.
