Raman Application Scientist

Horiba Scientific which specializes in scientific instruments has an opening in its Piscataway, New Jersey location for an Applications Scientist.

Responsibilities include:

  • Pre-sales and post-sales technical support of spectroscopic products
  • Assisting sales and service in their interactions with prospects and users
  • Quotation review
  • Running customer samples and writing analysis reports
  • Performing demonstrations and customer training in the field
  • Writing applications notes and technical articles
  • Giving scientific and sales presentations at events and meetings
  • Attending trade shows to provide technical support
  • Discovering and developing new applications for our instruments

 

Requirements

  • M.S. Degree or Ph.D. in chemistry, biophysics, physics, materials sciences/engineering, or another related scientific field
  • Knowledge of spectroscopic instruments and spectroscopic techniques such as Raman and Photoluminescence
  • Familiarity with instrument control software such as LabVIEW or other scripting software is beneficial
  • Must be willing and able to travel 20% of the time, including international trips
  • Must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Positive proactive thinker with great attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
