Service Business Development Manager-SLM

HORIBA Automotive, a business segment within the HORIBA Group, has developed global leadership in the fields of battery and fuel cell test stands, data management solutions, driveline test systems, engine test systems, brake test systems, wind tunnel balances, emissions test systems and test facility automation. HORIBA Automotive is able to offer its customers complete solutions, with full turnkey capability, for all industries using electric motors, internal combustion engines and turbines. These include the automotive, heavy-duty, off-road, consumer goods, marine, defense, aerospace and rail sectors.  

This position will be responsible for development, maintaining and expanding business opportunities in the Service Lifecycle Management (SLM) business of the HORIBA Automotive division. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Present and sell HORIBA Service Lifecycle Management (SLM) propositions to top tier strategic accounts (management and executive staff).  Tracks and measures financial results and provides reporting to management.
  • Identify and create customized value solutions and value proposition deliverables; establishing pricing, margin, gap analysis, and sales proposals for customer accounts; and determining and prioritizing opportunities and risks.
  • Supports achievement of business unit targets, relative to P&L or performance KPI’s 
  • Gathers and analyzes information to identify new markets and customers, demand for services, and efficacy of existing marketing campaigns and strategies. 
  • Establish, cultivate, and maintain relationships with decision makers within targeted organizations with objectives to provide solutions that drive adoption of HORIBA service products, secure purchase agreements and coordinate implementation through Service Management team.
  • Composes, develops, evaluates, and conducts internal training on marketing activities, strategies, and service policies to sales team. 
  • Communicate and liaison with Global SLM business development managers in order to align efforts, fostering collaboration and joint ownership/accountability for strategic initiatives. 
  • Communicate and liaison with product managers in order to provide new service product evaluation opportunities.
  • Support existing contracts for all assigned service business.  
  • Collaborates with leaders of local support teams (Sales & Marketing, Engineering, commissioning, and Environmental/Quality/Safety) to drive efficiency in overall business activity and improve organizational capability and performance. 
  • Collaborates, participates in, and coordinates promotional activities or trade shows, and coordinates promotional activities or trade shows.  

 

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, or Engineering Technology or similar required. 
  • The ideal candidate has 5 to 10 years’ experience in the automotive industry in a service or engineering role. 
  • Must have demonstrated an ability to effectively manage and build key national partner accounts.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills to create meaningful analyses of proposed contracts, defend spending proposals, and measure ROI(s).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, along with strong interpersonal & customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.   Experience with developing and writing formal business plans preferred.  At a minimum, an understanding of the scope and structure of a business plan
  • Must be flexible, results-oriented, and ethical, with the ability to work effectively in an evolving and changing business environment.   
  • Ability to create, implement, and monitor budgets with a thorough understanding of marketing, sales, forecasting, pricing, and promotion of Service solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the big picture issue(s) that impact our customers and possesses a highly strategic and analytical mind.  
  • Proficiency in PC operations, Microsoft Office software (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.), and Internet-based research and downloading.
  • Moderate travel is required.
