The Thin Film Division of HORIBA Jobin Yvon - HORIBA Group launched its first meeting for users of Jobin Yvon ellipsometers on 9 June 2004.

The meeting took place in Chilly-Mazarin and brought together the majority of our French-speaking users. The attendees came from different backgrounds, and research and industry were represented as well as the most recent and oldest customers! The day allowed us to meet new users and discover a diversity of application fields, as well as letting us show the direction for the Thin Film Division for the future.

During the day an important session was dedicated to our users. The presentations covered topics ranging from an introduction to laboratory activities, characterization of LiNbO₃ crystals, TFT-LCD devices for display applications, biosensors, and a new generation of ellipsometer presented by our colleagues from Ecole Polytechnique. The success of this session was realized through a mixture of technical contributions, illustrations and testimonies from industrial and academic users.

The day was appreciated by all attendees, and it was a very valuable experience that provided the opportunity to establish a large variety of contacts in the ellipsometry community. The experience and expertise of the attendees gave us an improved understanding of the requirements of the ellipsometer market.

We would like to extend a special thanks to our customers who took part in the launch of the HORIBA Jobin Yvon Ellipsometer User Club. Thank you for the time and especially the enthusiasm communicated throughout this day. It reinforced our will and our commitment to the continuous improvement of our instruments and product range.

We look forward to pursuing a long and enjoyable relationship and meeting you again next year, where we hope to see our ellipsometry community increasing!
