This webinar will provide practical guidance on how all members of the veterinary team can maximise the value and potential of their in-house laboratory by improving workflow, sample quality, implementing effective quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes, and recognising and rectifying common analytical artefacts.
Attendees will gain a better understanding of pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical factors that influence laboratory results - helping to improve diagnostic speed and accuracy and aiding patient management and care.
The session will explore common sample quality challenges, including collection, handling, storage, and transportation issues that can affect test outcomes.
Participants will learn how regular and robust QA and QC procedures can support reliable laboratory performance, ensure consistency, and identify potential sources of error before they impact clinical decision-making. Definitely a ‘learn to love’ topic!
Using case studies, the webinar will demonstrate how common artefacts such as haemolysis, lipaemia, clotting, and sample contamination can affect laboratory results. Through practical examples, delegates will develop the skills to recognise artefactual changes, troubleshoot unexpected findings, and make informed decisions when evaluating laboratory data.
By the end of the webinar, attendees will be equipped with practical tips to enhance laboratory quality, improve confidence in test results, and optimise the diagnostic capabilities of their veterinary practice laboratory.
