Constant Volume Sampler for Diluted Vehicle and Engine Emissions

Accurate diluted-emissions measurement requires stable dilution flow, representative exhaust sampling and careful control of background contamination—particularly as regulated emission levels continue to decrease.

The CVS-ONE is a Constant Volume Sampler designed to dilute vehicle or engine exhaust with filtered air and support accurate emissions measurement over a defined test cycle. When combined with measurement systems such as MEXA-ONE, it supports the calculation of total mass emissions and fuel consumption for certification testing and engine, vehicle and aftertreatment development.

A wide selection of dilution-flow configurations, flexible bag-sampling options and separate main sampling lines allow the system to be configured for light-duty vehicles, engines, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, and different fuel types. Compact system architecture helps reduce the test-cell footprint while preserving the measurement performance required for low-emission testing.

As part of HORIBA ONE PLATFORM, CVS-ONE can be operated and monitored alongside compatible HORIBA measurement systems through a common software environment. This helps engineers coordinate equipment, monitor system conditions and manage measurement workflows from a centralized interface.

CVS-ONE provides controlled dilution and representative sampling of vehicle or engine exhaust for emissions measurement and mass-emissions calculation.

Different powertrains, test cycles and exhaust-flow ranges require different dilution and sample-storage arrangements. CVS-ONE can be configured to match the laboratory’s testing requirements.

Regulatory Testing

CVS-ONE can be configured to support vehicle and engine emissions testing conducted according to applicable regional procedures. Required flow range, bag configuration, sampling arrangement, analyzers and automation should be selected according to the applicable regulation and vehicle or engine category.


CVS-ONE is available in multiple configurations to accommodate different dilution-flow requirements, sampling arrangements and test-cell layouts. Select the appropriate model based on the required maximum flow rate, heat-exchanger configuration and mixing-tee arrangement.
