Mast cell
- Size : Large, 20-30 µm
- Normal values : Absent in normal blood, very rare in the bone marrow
- Description / Pathology :
Rounded and large cell, round central nucleus, lacy chromatin. Many basophilic thick granules covering the nucleus and the entire cytoplasm.
Systemic mastocytosis (mast cell clusters on bone marrow biopsy (BMB) and atypical cytologic appearance on myelogram).
Association with Waldenström's disease: mast cells of normal appearance and proliferation of lympho-plasmocytic cells.
