Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA) is a technique that measures particle size based on the motion of individual particles. NTA is typically used for small particles that primarily experience Brownian motion. In cases with large or dense particles, sedimentation becomes the dominant force. The ViewSizer 3000 has a separate module, Sedimentation Analysis, that sizes sinking particles with diameters up to 15 microns based on Stokes’ law. In this application note, 3, 5, and 12 micron polystyrene latex particles were measured on the ViewSizer 3000 with Sedimentation Analysis.
