Responsible Mineral Procurement

HORIBA Group recognizes the importance of procuring the mineral resources used in its products in a manner that takes the environment and human rights into consideration.
We promote the responsible procurement of minerals such as tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold (these four minerals are referred to as 3TG) that may serve as a source of funding for organizations involved in human rights abuses, including child labor, environmental destruction, and inhumane armed actions, within mineral supply chains originating from conflict-affected and high-risk areas.

Responsible procurement of mineral resources is an important issue involving the entire supply chain. To enhance the effectiveness of its efforts, HORIBA Group conducts its activities in accordance with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas.

In consideration of applicable laws and regulations, international expectations, and the principle of respecting human rights throughout the supply chain, HORIBA Group will continue to promote responsible procurement of mineral resources.

In conducting supply chain surveys, HORIBA Group comprehensively considers the relevance of the minerals in scope and requests from customers, and conducts supplier surveys using the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) and Extended Minerals Reporting Template (EMRT) provided by the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI).
In evaluating the survey results, HORIBA Group conducts due diligence to assess whether any of the risks specified in Annex II of the OECD Guidance are present, while referring to external indicators such as the CAHRAs list.
If a risk is identified, HORIBA Group conducts additional investigations and requests corrective action from the relevant supplier. Where necessary, HORIBA Group also confirms the implementation status of corrective measures. If improvements cannot be confirmed, HORIBA Group will consider appropriate measures, including a review of the business relationship.
