HORIBA will be involved in the Hymet project mainly with two characterization techniques: PP-TOFMS and Tip-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (TERS).


Hymet project goal is to develop a European hybrid metrology capability for the characterisation of thin film performance and durability in energy applications. This will include the development of new methods to enable datasets from multiple measurements to be combined. These new capabilities will aid deployment in novel energy applications.

RamanFest 2016: Highlights from a Successful Conference

The 4th annual RamanFest was held on May 19th and 20th in Berlin Adlershof, Germany, in partnership with the Humboldt University of Berlin. More than 130 participants attended the 2016 RamanFest to hear about the latest developments of Raman Spectroscopy presented by internationally renowned speakers in the fields of Life Science, Materials & Biomaterials, Emerging Technologies and Industrial applications. What makes TERS "shine" today?

After more than 15 years since TERS had its first proof of concept, HORIBA Scientific and AIST-NT have created a solution that brings TERS as an analytical method to a completely new level. TERS is not only able to perform so-called point measurements, but now TERS spectra can be collected in every single pixel of a scan map. A TERS map is composed of more than tens of thousands Raman spectra, for a full image acquisition time in less than 10 min.

New analytical solution brings nanoscale chemical imaging to new levels of ease and automation.

HORIBA Scientific, global leader in Raman spectroscopy solutions, announces an innovative solution that addresses the challenges of TERS imaging.

Tip Enhanced Raman Scattering (TERS) is a technique that provides molecular information on the nanometer scale through the combination between a Raman spectrometer and a Scanning Probe Microscope. TERS has been hampered by extremely long acquisition times, measured in hours, required for collection of reasonably pixel density, and even with the last decade progress, TERS is still seen by the research community as a difficult too. In some extent, with older “TERS ready” systems offered until recently, the concerns were fairly valid.

HORIBA Scientific and AIST-NT now offer a solution that addresses all the instrumentation concerns and bring TERS as an analytical method to a completely new level today.

HORIBA  Supports Raman Spectroscopy, Science and Research :

During May and June HORIBA participated in and co-hosted the latest RamanFest conference in Xiamen, China, and the RamanFest satellite meeting in Kyoto, Japan.
These meetings provided an ideal forum for researchers to hear about some of the latest research in Raman spectroscopy. The focus this year was on biological Raman analysis and nanoRaman (TERS) with talks covering single cell analysis, cancer detection , protein studies, enhanced methods of Raman (SRS and SERS), and indeed the hot topic for materials scientists TERS and nanoRaman applications. With over 300 attendees over the two meetings, the participation from research and industry was a reflection of just how far Raman has developed in its growing position as an enabling and "must have" spectroscopic technique. The next RamanFest conference will be held in Germany and details will be announced shortly on the RamanFest website
