An Emission Analyzer is a measurement system designed to determine the composition and concentration of exhaust gases and particles emitted by engines, vehicles, or industrial equipment. It provides precise data essential for emission control, performance optimization, and regulatory compliance.
Emission Analyzers measure key components such as CO (carbon monoxide), CO₂ (carbon dioxide), NOx (nitrogen oxides), HC (hydrocarbons), and O₂ (oxygen) — and in advanced systems, also particulate matter (PM) and PN (particle number).
Depending on the application, different types of analyzers are available. Stationary Exhaust Gas Analyzers and Stationary Particle Analyzers are permanently installed in test cells or laboratories for continuous, high-precision measurements during certification tests or R&D programs. Portable Emission Measurement Systems (PEMS) and Handheld Emission Analyzers, on the other hand, are designed for mobility — ideal for on-site testing, service diagnostics, or real-world emission measurements under dynamic conditions.
All Emission Analyzers operate by sampling the exhaust gas, conditioning it as necessary, and measuring gas and particle concentrations using advanced technologies such as NDIR (non-dispersive infrared), CLD (chemiluminescence detection), FID (flame ionization detection), HORIBA’s next-generation infrared gas analysis technology IRLAM™ or particle measurement sensors.
