Our vision is to be a trusted supporter of a diverse UK science ecosystem delivering high-impact research. We do this by establishing scholarships, funding grants, and providing mentorship for next-generation scientists who will deliver new ideas and high-impact research. Our funding is focused on ensuring a diverse scientific community within the United Kingdom contributing to the realisation of a sustainable society and the preservation of the global environment and resources.
We work closely with partner higher education institutions to encourage broader participation in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) and healthcare disciplines.
We fund research across our focus fields of energy and the environment, bio and healthcare, and materials and semiconductor. Our funding aims to empower research technical professionals as valued contributors to higher education science, encourage diverse new talent at the postgraduate level, and develop young innovators through postdoctoral fellowships.
