Our automotive testing facility for vehicle development offers customizable test cells

Our North American automotive testing facility in Troy, Michigan offers powertrain, e-motor, brake, and structural testing services in our 45,000 ft2 facility.

Our fourteen test cells are fully customizable to meet each of our customer's unique test specifications, from small individual components to full size on and off highway vehicles. 

In addition, the testing facility offers a full complement of road and environment simulation options using high response HORIBA dynos, and operated by our experienced, results-driven team of contract testing engineers.

The HORIBA North American Testing Center has 14 dedicated dynamometer test cells. Our test cells use an "open laboratory" format, meaning our test cells can be reconfigured on a moment's notice to support multiple types of ePowertrain and ICE Powertrain applications. 

These applications include: 


E-motor Testing   

  • 3 dynamometer options:            
    • 150 kW with a max speed of 16,000 RPM
    • 260 kW with a max speed of 18,000 RPM
    • 380 kW with a max speed of 12,000 RPM
  • 2 DC-DC Converter (battery simulator) options:
    • 250 kW with a max sustained DC Voltage of 500 VDC
    • 420 kW with a max sustained DC Voltage of 600 VDC
  • Universal inverters are available upon request
  • High performance conditioning units available to support LTOE, HTOE, HTHE, and PTCE testing (temperature ranges between -30°C and 150°C)
  • HILS, CAN, AI/AO, DIO capable
  • Yokogawa Power Analyzers available

  • 5 input dynamometer options
    • 260 kW with a max speed of 18,000 RPM
    • 380 kW with a max speed of 12,000 RPM

    • 640 kW with a max speed of 3,500 RPM
    • 1,360 kW with a max speed of 1,800 RPM
  • 4 output dynamometer options
    • 325 kW with a max speed of 3,250 RPM

Environmentally controlled NVH performance brake testing system.

Advanced Test Systems
• Speeds up to 2,200 rpm, up to 5,000 nm braking torque, and up to 2,500 nm drag torque environmentally controlled NVH and performance testing system
• Environmental enclosure -40°C to over +50°C with water/mist spray
• Static drive with up to 5000 nm of torque
• Parking brake cable actuation

• HORIBA STARS Brake, consisting of ready-to-go test procedures according to current brake industry test specifications
