Chemometrics-Driven Chemical Characterization of Cellulose Sheets using Raman Microscopy

Chemometrics-Driven Chemical Characterization of Cellulose Sheets using Raman Microscopy - Illustation picture

This application note presents how Raman microscopy, supported by chemometric tools, enables detailed chemical characterization of cellulose sheets. By combining high-resolution Raman imaging with multivariate analysis (MCR), the method quantifies crystalline and amorphous cellulose and differentiates between cellulose I and II forms.

Using the HORIBA XploRA™ PLUS Raman microscope and LabSpec 6 software, point-by-point mapping with autofocus ensures reliable data acquisition despite sample topography. This non-destructive approach offers accurate, efficient, and cost-effective quality control for bio-based materials in R&D and QA/QC environments.
