Reflected Ultra-Violet Imaging Systems are extremely effective systems for the detection and documentation of Latent Fingerprints but, they are difficult to use and master. This training will cover the proper use of the systems and the results expected from that use.
Personnel will be trained on the care, use and applications of RUVIS system in the laboratory (Cyanoacrylate fumed prints) and given tips for using the analog versions of the device at the Crime Scene (locating and photographing untreated prints under short-wave UV).
Topics include: Theory of Light, Spectrum, UV Reflectance and UV Absorption, Wavelengths, Protective Goggles, Gloves & Clothing. Safety aspects. Analog versus Digital RUVIS Systems.
Hands-on topics can include: Latent print enhancement based on the angle of the UV light, Surface restrictions and limitations, image capture and documentation. Proper care and maintenance of the agency’s FLS units will be discussed.
These training programs are offered to Law Enforcement Agencies and take place at their facility. Prices include all expenses. Prices are for U.S. Law Enforcement Agencies. Extra fees may apply for foreign destinations, based on availability of airfares, travel time, and local costs.
